Possibly the nicest beach on Vancouver Island. Well maintained Provincial Park. Beach is sandy, flat and very extensive when the tide is out. Also a great place to picnic under the shady pines at one of the many picnic tables. Decent washrooms and several free parking lots only steps from the beach. Excellent place to spend the day or even longer at one of the many camping sites. No concessions so bring your own provisions and enjoy. Five stars.
A beautiful spot both to camp and enjoy for the day. The beach is unique because it is possible to wade out quite far in water that is only knee to mid-thigh deep. During my visit I noticed that the signage is adequate, there is lots of parking, the beach is easily accessible, and the park is patrolled. I did not have to use any other facilities, so I can't comment on them. Definitely recommend this place!
From the moment we arrived, we noticed how easy it was to find, and how friendly the roads were for all types vehicles. Once we showed up, reservation was simple with the help of the park rangers who work there. There we spots you could drive into and others you could walk to that were closer to the ocean. The beach was massive with lots of privacy ! We had a great time and would definitely return! Parksville is also great for hikes and camping, so it's in a great location!
What a special beach! To get the best out of your time here, consult the tide chart and try to come at low tide. That way you can enjoy the vastness of this beach. The water is also super warm as it comes in over warm sand bars, and once in the water, you seem to be able to wade forever.
Rathtrevor is one of the best managed and serviced parks anywhere. We have stayed in the group area and the individual sites and both are excellent. Clean facilities, a pump track for kids, amazing low tide shoreline exploration opportunities - the list goes on. Great for families.
