We enjoyed our time here but the expansion area of the campground is somewhat lacking in privacy. Plenty of families while we were here, so everyone was in bed and quiet by 9 pm. Nicely maintained facilities.
What a way to start an RV holiday! No where we have stayed on this trip since our first 2 nights at Rathtrevor have come close in comparison. Absolutely beautiful beach and shaded walking trails. The staff member who met us at the gate at 11.20pm as she was finishing her shift was delightful. She was locking up but took the time & listened to our story of missing the ferry, getting lost, driving in terrential rain in an 28' RV for the first time etc. We had a reservation so she let us into the park and gave us clear directions to the site. We were so lucky to run into her locking the gate or we'd have spent the night on the hwy somewhere still feeling lost. The park was BEAUTIFULLY maintained. Accessible (wheelchair/stroller friendly) and the campsites were very private with a lot of growth in between each site. Free & clean showers, great playground for kids & lovely pebbly beach. I would love to go back to Rathtrevor.
The beach here is amazing. The tide seems to go out forever and when it is in you can walk out a long distance in knee deep water. A perfect beach for kids as there is lots to see in the tide pools and the sand is always perfect for building sand castles. We stayed in the newer section of campsites (Site #180) which is not great - while they are spacious they are all right next to each other with only a low fence separating them. We felt like we were camping with two other families because we were so close to them. We walked around the entire park and the campsites inside the main gate are much better as they offer some privacy from other campers.
We come every year. Family orientated and well kept campsite. The beach is amazing and goes on forever. Picnic site for the park and there's even event areas for big gatherings. Kids love it and don't forget the bikes.
Perhaps the best campground in BC. But it is very popular, so you must book 4 months in advance. Lots of families and little kids. Beach is amazing. One of the few places that still does Jerry's Rangers run by volunteers, so leave donations. outdoor movie nights are not to be missed. Hot showers and flush toilets are a appreciated
