Was attending the Sunday market. Great music, fresh produce and other interesting vendors
Cabins showing school, homes, blacksmith working. Enjoyed my visit. At the time, the mid island market was happening - Sunday's.
I just found out the board FIRED both the staff. The ED had been with the museum for almost 5 years. They did so in a very secretive manner and without the approval of the whole board and the membership. This is disgusting and against the museums values as stated on the website. 2 of the board are bullies and one of them called the director a b!tch and he didn't even deny it. Also just found out they cannot guarantee your safety while on the grounds. AVOID!This museum is on public land, so no need to pay no matter what they tell you.
Loved loved loved this place. So much history. Authentic buildings and authentic collections. There is a blurb next to the everything. The host was extra nice and he walked us through and explained several things and told us the background stories for several buildings/pieces. Call ahead for off-season visits! But definitely visit if you get the opportunity!!
The gentleman volunteer (Sorry, I'm bad with names) was very friendly and knowledgeable about the local history and artifacts on display.
